Why We Built This

The Problem We Saw

Rubbish removal in London often felt disorganised and unclear. Customers were messaging multiple companies, comparing random quotes, and hoping the carrier would actually show up — and dispose of the waste legally.

Random Facebook replies. No way to compare prices. No way to verify whether a carrier was licensed. And a real risk of fly-tipping — which can leave the waste producer liable for fines.

At the same time, smaller licensed carriers struggled to compete against large advertising-heavy companies. They had no simple way to find local jobs without paying expensive lead fees.

No price transparency

Customers had no way to compare quotes fairly.

Unlicensed carriers

Risk of fly-tipping and legal liability for customers.

Endless phone calls

Hours spent chasing quotes from multiple companies.

Expensive leads for carriers

Small carriers couldn't compete with big ad budgets.

Why It Matters

Licensed Carriers & Why It Matters

Under UK law, anyone who transports, buys, sells or disposes of waste as part of a business must hold a valid Environment Agency waste carrier licence. This isn't just a formality — if an unlicensed carrier dumps your waste illegally, you as the waste producer can be held liable for fly-tipping fines.

EA Licence Verification

We encourage all carriers on the platform to hold a valid Environment Agency waste carrier licence before bidding on jobs.

Your Legal Protection

Using a licensed carrier protects you from liability. Always ask for a carrier's licence number — or use RubbishBids where it's built in.

Responsible Disposal

Licensed carriers are required to dispose of waste at authorised facilities. Your rubbish won't end up fly-tipped in a lay-by.

Important: You can verify any carrier's licence on the Environment Agency public register. Always check before handing over your waste to any carrier.

Built for London

London-Focused, Borough by Borough

RubbishBids is built specifically for London. We understand that rubbish removal in Hackney is different from rubbish removal in Richmond — different property types, different access challenges, different council services.

Our carrier network covers all 32 London boroughs plus the City of London. Whether you're in a high-rise flat in Tower Hamlets, a Victorian terrace in Islington, or a detached house in Bromley — there's a licensed carrier nearby who knows your area.

We also understand London's council waste services — the waiting times, the item limits, the permit requirements. RubbishBids is designed to fill the gaps that council services leave.

Borough-specific pages

Every London borough has its own rubbish removal page on RubbishBids — with local pricing guides, council service information, and carrier availability specific to that area.

From Westminster to Bromley, Hackney to Richmond — we cover every corner of the capital.

Our Mission

Making Responsible Waste Disposal the Easy Choice

Fly-tipping costs London councils millions every year. Much of it happens because people can't find a trustworthy, affordable alternative quickly enough. They call a number from a flyer, get a vague quote, and hope for the best.

RubbishBids exists to change that. By making it easy to find licensed, vetted carriers and get transparent competing quotes, we make the legal route the obvious route.

Our longer-term goal is to build the most trusted rubbish removal marketplace in the UK — starting with London, expanding to other cities, and continuously improving the experience for both customers and carriers.

We're also committed to improving recycling and reuse rates. We encourage carriers to divert waste from landfill wherever possible, and we're building tools to help customers understand where their waste goes.

“I was sceptical at first — I'd never heard of RubbishBids. But I uploaded a photo of my old sofa and got three quotes within an hour. The carrier who collected it was professional, on time, and showed me his waste carrier licence without me even asking. Would definitely use again.”

Our Story

Built Out of Frustration

RubbishBids was started by someone who had the same experience as thousands of London residents every year: needing rubbish removed, not knowing who to trust, and ending up either overpaying or worrying whether the waste was being disposed of legally.

The idea was simple: create a marketplace where customers can see competing quotes from verified, licensed carriers — and where carriers can build a legitimate business without competing against unlicensed operators on price alone.

We're a small team based in London. We care about doing this properly — which means only working with licensed carriers, being transparent about how the platform works, and continuously improving based on feedback from both customers and carriers.

What we stand for

Transparency — no hidden fees, no vague quotes
Accountability — every carrier is licensed and verified
Fairness — competition keeps prices honest
Responsibility — legal disposal, every time
