The Problem We Saw
Rubbish removal in London often felt disorganised and unclear. Customers were messaging multiple companies, comparing random quotes, and hoping the carrier would actually show up — and dispose of the waste legally.

At the same time, smaller licensed carriers struggled to compete against large advertising-heavy companies. They had no simple way to find local jobs without paying expensive lead fees.

Why It Matters

Under UK law, anyone who transports, buys, sells or disposes of waste as part of a business must hold a valid Environment Agency waste carrier licence. This isn't just a formality — if an unlicensed carrier dumps your waste illegally, you as the waste producer can be held liable for fly-tipping fines.

We encourage all carriers on the platform to hold a valid Environment Agency waste carrier licence before bidding on jobs.
Your Legal Protection
Using a licensed carrier protects you from liability. Always ask for a carrier's licence number — or use RubbishBids where it's built in.

Built Out of Frustration
RubbishBids was started by someone who had the same experience as thousands of London residents every year: needing rubbish removed, not knowing who to trust, and ending up either overpaying or worrying whether the waste was being disposed of legally.
The idea was simple: create a marketplace where customers can see competing quotes from verified, licensed carriers — and where carriers can build a legitimate business without competing against unlicensed operators on price alone.
