2. What data we collect

When you use RubbishBids, we may collect the following personal data:

• Contact information: Your mobile phone number, used to send bids via WhatsApp.
• Location data: Your postcode, used to match you with nearby carriers.
• Job details: Photos of your waste, waste type, access description, and urgency.
• Usage data: Pages visited, time on site, browser type, and IP address, collected automatically via cookies and analytics tools.
• Carrier data: If you register as a waste carrier, we collect your name, email, phone number, company details, and EA licence number.

3. How we use your data

We use your personal data to:

• Broadcast your waste collection job to nearby verified carriers.
• Send you bids and carrier messages via WhatsApp.
• Verify carrier licences and manage carrier accounts.
• Process payments via Stripe for carrier subscriptions.
• Improve our platform through analytics and usage data.
• Comply with legal obligations, including waste duty of care requirements.

4. Legal basis for processing

We process your personal data on the following legal bases under UK GDPR: contract performance (to provide the service you requested), legitimate interests (to improve our platform and prevent fraud), and legal obligation (to comply with waste regulations). Where we rely on consent, such as for marketing communications, you may withdraw it at any time.

5. Who we share your data with

We share your data only as necessary:

• Waste carriers: Your postcode, waste photo, and job details are shared with carriers in your area so they can submit bids.
• Twilio: We use Twilio to send WhatsApp messages. Your phone number is processed by Twilio in accordance with their privacy policy.
• Stripe: Payment processing for carrier subscriptions. Stripe processes payment data under their own privacy policy.
• Supabase: Our database provider, used to store job and carrier data securely.
• We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

6. Data retention

We retain customer job data (including phone numbers and waste photos) for up to 12 months after job completion, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Carrier account data is retained for the duration of the carrier's active subscription plus 6 months. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
• Object to or restrict certain processing activities.
