Booking a sofa and a wardrobe? You'll get two collections
Kingston collects upholstered items — sofas, armchairs, mattresses — separately from everything else. If your booking mixes upholstered and non-upholstered items, the council schedules two separate collections on different dates, not one combined visit. Where you have to leave your items
Houses: items must be on your own property, positioned as close to the road as possible and clearly visible from the pavement.
Not allowed: the pavement itself, the road, or a grass verge — items left in any of these spots risk being logged as fly-tipping rather than a bulky waste collection.
Flats: items go to the front of your building's communal bin storage area. For a second-floor flat, that means carrying a sofa down the stairs yourself before collection day.
If the crew can't find your items where you said they'd be, the collection is marked as attempted and you'll need to book — and pay — again.
